Format & Rules

The Primary Rugby League games programme is now firmly established and accepted as the vehicle to introduce children to the great game of Rugby League.

Primary Rugby League is part of the RFL Operational Rules (Community Game) and each league is bound by these rules.

Whilst playing Primary Rugby League it is pivotal to ensure children play by the rules in a safe manner.

Please refer to the Safe Play Code tab to gain an understanding about children’s responsibilities whilst playing and enjoying Primary Rugby League.

Festival Game Day

Please refer to the festival guidelines document to understand how to organise a game day.

This includes player numbers, teams, pitches and games coaches.

To ensure every child plays all the time coaches may have to put players from different clubs together to form a team.

The aim of Primary Rugby League is development and not winning this should be remembered.
